Soapstone is a great product. I love the ease of care and especially the look of my soapstone countertops. I even recently ordered another piece for a table top in the center of the kitchen. Joe and his staff at Philadelphia Soapstone were easy to work with, the service they provided us and the product they provided us were top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering installing soapstone in their home. They have a great staff and their showroom will give you a great preview of what your kitchen can look like.
Soapstone is worry free; scratches and stains are easily remediated and setting something hot on them is not a concern.The wax that Philly Soapstone sells is a great way to spruce them up if you want that look.
As far as the service, Joe was wonderful to work with and responsive to our calls and questions. The countertops were installed in a timely manner with no concerns. He worked well with our contractors on the initial installation, and was helpful in getting us what we needed. At the present time we are looking for a piece to place on an antique table, and as usual Joe has been very helpful in the process. We can’t wait to get it.

We loved everything about Philadelphia Soapstone from the quick response to our first initial request for a quote through installation and beyond.
We shopped for soapstone at two other counter-top vendors; one had virtually no soapstone choice and the other was way overpriced.
When we went to Philadelphia Soapstone showroom, we were amazed at the varieties and types of slabs available, in many different kinds and colors. We fell in love with our slab at once and Joe let us put our names on it in July when we weren’t going to need it until January. He also said we could come back in when we were closer to installation to make sure that our slab was still our first choice. (It was!)
Throughout our construction process Joe kept in touch with us and let us know what he would need along the way. He worked well with our contractor and cabinet maker and was meticulous in his measurements – an aspect that we appreciated as this large installation of soapstone is one of the most visible design elements in our kitchen addition.
The installers from Philadelphia Soapstone were knowledgeable and friendly and in constant communication with the owner. The pieces were installed flawlessly and the seam is virtually invisible. They walked me through the easy care of my soapstone and helped me apply the first coat of wax.
Our home was built in 1921 and we added on a large kitchen and family room this year. The soapstone helps keep the character of our Craftsman-style home and its durability is perfect for our young family. Granite was never an option. Everyone who has seen it is awed by it’s beauty – and many of our friends are now contemplating a Soapstone installation, from Joe at Philadelphia Soapstone.

I contacted Joe from Philadelphia Soapstone after I got cold feet about the coloring of the Soapstone slabs I was ordering from another yard. After talking to him on the phone and explaining to him my needs I went to visit his shop. I had a very specific requirement of wanting Soapstone that had tan veins but the stone was still black and had no green hue to it. He had the perfect lot for me. He was the nicest guy and was not pushy at all. Joe spent time answering all my questions and ensuring I was comfortable.
Over the next couple of months we stayed in touch as my kitchen project progressed slower than expected. He was always kind, helpful and very professional. When it was finally time for templating, he came out and made the templates onsite. The template process was like an art form… especially since our island was not completely assembled so Joe had to improvise. Yet everything turned out perfect.
Joe fabricated two sinks for us which are gorgeous, a 12 foot long island, and a very large counter plus a peninsula return with a cooktop. During the install, the installers were friendly and professional. And they modified the cooktop indentations to fix an issue that was changed after templating due to our contractors mistake. You can’t even tell… they did an amazing job.
I would highly recommend Philadelphia Soapstone Company. We love our soapstone countertops. Everyone who sees them says “wow”.

Philadelphia Soapstone was highly professional, extremely neat and accurate and always responded to every call and question. We ordered our slab of black soapstone directly from their yard. They came out , made a template and delivered on time exactly on the date provided. They installed a black soapstone counter on our 4′ x 6′ island and our 84′ counter around our farmhouse sink and stove. Philadelphia Soapstone installed counters in my kitchen a little over three years ago. First, the counters are gorgeous. I had done a lot of research, knew what I wanted, and was prepared to travel. I did, in fact, spend long days looking at other offerings in the extended area. The selection was very good at Philadelphia Soapstone, and they were patient with my multiple visits before I finalized my selection.
The installation went as planned, the installers were professional and careful of the cabinets in place. There was one area on the largest counter that I thought was a little rough; it was re-sanded within days of my call. The seams and edges are quite good.
